Know before you start

Important limitations

  • Only the primary still image is exported; animation, gain maps, metadata, and additional images are omitted.
  • JPG is lossy and cannot preserve transparency.
  • Decoding and export use 8-bit display pixels, so HDR, high-bit-depth, and color-profile fidelity are not guaranteed.
  • Files above 20 MB, 40 megapixels, or 16,384 pixels on one side are rejected.

Common questions

AVIF to JPG Converter FAQ

Is my AVIF uploaded?

No. Tool Packer uses the browser's decoder when available and a local compatibility decoder otherwise; neither path uploads the file.

Why did transparency disappear?

JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent pixels are composited onto the selected background.

Will HDR AVIF remain HDR?

No guarantee is made. The export uses 8-bit browser display pixels and can flatten HDR, gain maps, wide-gamut color, or higher bit depths.
