Which image format should you choose?

PNGBest when transparency or crisp interface graphics matter. File sizes can be larger.
JPEGWidely compatible and efficient for photographs, but it cannot preserve transparency.
WebPA modern option that supports transparency and often produces smaller web images.

Know before you start

Important limitations

  • The converter handles still images and does not preserve animation from animated WebP files.
  • Canvas export usually removes EXIF, color-profile, and other ancillary metadata.
  • Converting a previously compressed image cannot restore detail already discarded by its source encoding.
