Compress PDF

Reduce image-heavy PDF file sizes with adjustable browser-side compression.

Private browser processing

Compress a PDF

Rebuild pages as optimized images to reduce large scanned or image-heavy PDFs.

Private by design. Processing happens in this browser. Your files are never uploaded to Tool Packer.

How it works

Process files without an upload queue

Each page is rendered and rebuilt as a compressed JPG image. This can substantially reduce scanned PDFs while preserving the visual page layout.

Important limitation

Keep the original file

Compression rasterizes every page. Selectable text, links, form fields, accessibility tags, signatures, and other interactive PDF features will not survive. Always review the result.

How to use it

Get a reliable result

  1. Choose an image-heavy or scanned PDF.
  2. Select the page rendering quality.
  3. Build, review, and download the compressed PDF.

Useful for

Common workflows

  • Reduce scanned paperwork for email
  • Fit image-based PDFs under upload limits
  • Create lighter reference copies

Examples

What to expect

Scanned packet
Input
20-page scan with full-resolution page images
Output
A visually similar raster PDF at the selected quality

Text and interactive features do not survive rasterization.

Know before you start

Important limitations

  • Rasterization removes selectable text, links, forms, tags, signatures, and other interactive features.
  • Text-first or optimized PDFs may not become smaller.
  • Fine print can soften at aggressive quality settings.

Common questions

Compress PDF FAQ

Why is this best for scanned PDFs?

Image-heavy pages provide the largest opportunity for downsampling and JPEG compression.

Will selectable text remain?

No. Every page becomes one raster image in the rebuilt PDF.

Can the result become larger?

Yes. A text-focused or already optimized PDF may grow after every page is converted to an image.
