Know before you start

Important limitations

  • Targets below the smallest possible browser export cannot be met and are reported honestly.
  • Aggressive targets can visibly reduce detail or dimensions.
  • JPEG output replaces transparent pixels with white; automatic WebP output preserves transparency.
  • Files above 20 MB or 40 megapixels are rejected to protect browser memory.

Common questions

Compress Image to Target Size FAQ

Will the result be exactly 100 KB?

Usually not exactly. The tool searches for the highest tested quality at or below the limit because browser encoders produce discrete, device-dependent file sizes.

What if quality changes are not enough?

The tool progressively reduces pixel dimensions while preserving aspect ratio, then repeats the quality search.

Are images uploaded during the search?

No. Every candidate image and the final download are generated in your browser.
