Important limitations

  • An opaque frame does not replace transparent pixels inside the original image.
  • PNG preserves transparency where the operation allows it, but photographic files can be larger than JPG or WebP.

Common questions

Add Border to PNG FAQ

Does Add Border to PNG upload my image?

No. Decoding, canvas processing, previewing, and export happen in the current browser session.

Does the downloaded file replace the original?

No. The tool creates a separate download; the source file on your device is not modified.

Will metadata remain in the result?

Canvas export normally omits camera EXIF and most ancillary metadata. Keep the original if those records matter.
